Ethan Chu

Biography

Raised and educated 2 blocks from Notre Dame, Ethan joined the Aero-Optics group in 2022. He graduated from Bethel College with a BS in Math and Physics and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Notre Dame in 2019. After working in industry for two and half years, he returned to Notre Dame with an interest in Aerospace. His current work involves characterizing optical aberrations caused by supersonic shockwaves. These strong aberrations cause enough distortions in the optical path that most optical methods struggle fully resolving the flow. Most of this work has been done to mitigate these optical distortions through post-processing of experimental data. Ethan enjoys music, video games, and hiking through national parks.
